Step 1 - I started with $1.00 from the dollar store
Step 2 - trace or draw pattern
Step 3 - I had to sew over my tracing line as the store bought pot holder had the top layer separate from the bottom
Step 4 - cut close to stitch line
Step 5 - use scrape material and fold (this eliminates the need for a hem) material and lay where your thumb will fit.
Step 6 - repeat step 5 for top where your fingers will fit
Step 7 sew around edge and cut excess material
Step 8 - sew bias or in my case I used ribbon from Walmart for under $1.50 for 7yards
Step 9 - I zigzagged the stitching as I wasn't careful and yet wanted the ribbon to make a nice edge. I made a loop by ending with the ribbon folded over , see close up
