Two Zipper Purse Tutorial

5 by 7 Two Zipper purse

From one fat quarter
Iron material and iron on interfacing
Two NYLON zippers at least 9 inches can be longer
Cut the 18” length into three pieces (6inches wide)
Cut from 6” wide:
6”
2”
2”
8”
Cut from another 6” wide:
7”
13”
That is all. Iron the 13” in half to become 6 1/2”
Not of these pieces don’t need to be exact but they can’t be less!
Step1- take the six” length and hem one side
Step2-lay that piece on bottom edge of zipper (both facing up) sew
Step 3- if adding a design, add design below zipper but no larger than 3”by 3” or skip and go to step 4
Step 4- take one of the 2” pieces and hem both ends so the final measurement is about 5/8”
Step 6- sew on hemmed end, face up, to top of zipper SET ASIDE
Step 7- take 7” piece and hem one end

Step 8- lay piece on bottom edge of zipper, both facing up, sew
Step 9- take one of the 2” pieces and hem on one end
Step 10- sew on hemmed end, face up, to top of zipper
Step 11- iron everything flat
Step 12-
If using loops make them now and lay out with folded side towards zipper
Using pattern marks sew loops to top of material.  If using D rings I would put them on now.
Step 13- assemble purse. take the first piece you did and lay it over the 7” sewed piece 1” below the zipper face up
If wanting elastic for sunglasses or pen fold piece now and sew using marking on pattern, folded side towards center stitch to hold in place
Step 14- Open zippers to center of purse BUT tape open end so it looks closed
INPORTANT and i forgot a picture!!
DONT forget to open zippers
Step 15- lay 14” folded piece on top just covering both zippers
Step 16- lay 8” piece face down cover all use pattern to make sure you have it in the right place
Step 17- pin all around so nothing moves and stitch all the way around twice. About 5 inches wide by 7ir 8 inches long,
I actually draw so I can sew a straight line
Step 19 Trim
Step 20 turn right side out, this takes a little patience easier to turn the top small section first, making sure zippers are open all the way.  Turn the rest with the folded piece, which is the pocket, to the back. Carefully poke out corners being careful to not poke a hole in your material
Done unless you are adding grommets or large eyelets
Done pocket goes to back.
I will be adding large eyelets.
